Arbor Ales - Yakima Valley American IPA 7%

Taste: That's really fruity. Grapefruit or melon or some such. Must be the bucket-fulls of American Hops. This would be tastier slightly chilled, I should have paid head to the bottle's warning.

Appearance: Cider Yellow.

Would you buy 2? Doubtful, but I've enjoyed this one.

Would you buy 4? As gifts.

Rating (out of 7): 5***** it's above a four due to interest.

Magic Rock Brewing - Dark Arts Surreal Stout 6%

Taste: Smooth! It grows in the mouth. Strange. The kind of way over-fizzy coke does. I can taste liquorice and cut grass. Because Magic Rock beers are usually transcendental, this feels a bit like a let down, although it is still highly delicious.

Appearance: Great bottle design. Dark beer.

Would you buy 2? Yes!

Would you buy 4? I could, for friends.

Rating (out of 7): 5***** still a high scorer.

Arbor Ales - Warrior Single Hop IPA 6.5%

Taste: Ooh another single Hopper from Arbor. Big American Warrior Hops. Maaaaan that's bitter! Tree sap and lemon rinds. Really tasty stuff. This has a nice mouthfeel. A cross between a strong USA IPA and a light British summer ale.

Appearance: Did you ever see that big sun at the Tate Modern?

Would you buy 2? I definitely would!

Would you buy 4? I could drink four. Pretty strong though...

Rating (out of 7): 5***** Goes surprisingly well with peanut M&Ms.

Bosteels Brewery - Tripel Karmeliet 8.4%

Taste: 99% on RateBeer.com. I'll see about that. God. That is nice. Candied roses and Buiscuit base from a fruit cheesecake. Or a banana pie. Vanilla.

Appearance: Cream lager.

Would you buy 2? Yes. It's lovely.

Would you buy 4? Probably. Yes!!

Rating (out of 7): 6****** I was enjoying it so much I forgot to put a rating before I published it.

Mighty Oak Brewery - Captain Bob 3.8%

Taste: Well needed after a lucky escape! Just what I needed, citrusy, cool and refreshing. The kind of beer that you wouldn't mind drinking ten of (imagining a sunny bear garden with all sorts of pickled goods at hand).

Appearance: Brass stove top kettle.

Would you buy 2? I would normally. Today I'm drinking something called a "half".

Would you buy 4? Yes please.

Rating (out of 7): 5***** Thanks, Essex! (And captain Bob and his trusty mutt).

Bosteels Brewery - Pauvel Kwak 8.4%

Taste: Brewed for over 100 years, still tasting pretty good. It's given me a warm feeling after the first sip. I don't know about Belgium beer tastes, but i'd liken it to honeyed rum with vanilla'd raspberries. Nice!

Appearance: Almost pink. Fancy!

Would you buy 2? I would. It's delicious.

Would you buy 4? Four at this strength would be trouble.

Rating (out of 7): 5***** real smooth

Adnams - Broadside 4.7%

Taste: What's this?! Broadside's not been reviewed! Here goes.... A widely available ale which isn't a disappointment. A safety net you'd be happy to land in. If reminds me of chestnut meat. With lashings of molasses. Tasty, chunky flavour.

Appearance: Nut-Meat.

Would you buy 2? I would.

Would you buy 4? In one go? Better move pub. But I'm sure I've brought more than 50 in my lifetime.

Rating (out of 7): 5***** A settler

Milltown Brewing Co. - Golden Hop 3.8%

Taste: Cool creamy-smooth hop lick. Pretty delicious, I have no complaints. I can't detect any negative qualities, although there's no mind-blowing flavours here, it's a very comforting ale.

Appearance: First coating wood-stained pine. Hop clip-art on label.

Would you buy 2? I have.

Would you buy 4? I'd probably move onto something new.

Rating (out of 7): 4**** A nice beer! Well done.

Liberation Brewery - Liberation Ale: Golden Ale 4%

Taste: if my mouth was an occupied country, then I'd happily have it liberated by this ale. Oh god. I don't know why that's so good, but it is. Perfect to drink in the love shack at the Alexandra.

Appearance: Honey Badger. See-through.

Would you buy 2? We have!

Would you buy 4? I would! Lush!

Rating (out of 7): 5***** circumstantial five. Lovely.

Would you buy 2? Yeah, why not, well, maybe not.

Would you buy 4? Six, eight... But maybe not.

Rating (out of 7): 3***

Untapped Brewing Co. - Eclipse 4.4%

Taste: Smooth, silky, sits on the tongue, then slips away. Deep and rich, yet spiky.

Would you buy 2? Certainly

Would you buy 4? Only with Zebra steak

Rating (out of 7): 5*****

Theakston - Masham Glory 4.7%

Taste: The initial terrible smell has settled down into something quite pleasant, not unlike rum raisin ice cream. With added ginger biscuits. Tastes good! Sweet, and lightly fruity but not over the top. Pretty nice on the whole.

Appearance: Stage curtain mauve.

Would you buy 2? I might. Draft would be good, I imagine.

Would you buy 4? It's possible. Not all for me though.

Rating (out of 7): 4**** an extra point for interest.

Windsor & Eton Brewery - Conqueror Black IPA 5%

Taste: I'm opening this to celebrate the birth of my first daughter. I'm hoping for big things here. It has an absolutely incredible smell. Lovely rich hop aroma. I could smell this ale all day. Amazing. The taste is equally impressive; malt attack! Some malty ghosts are running over the roof of my mouth and down my throat. It might be not sleeping for 3 days, but I'm sure that's happening. It's sweet and bitter and bold. Impressive. It beats The Kernel Breweries Black IPA. Well done.

Appearance: Very, very dark. Nice griffins and shield on label.

Would you buy 2? For sure. Without hesitation.

Would you buy 4? I could be seen buying four. Or more.

Rating (out of 7): 6****** definitely a high sixer! Flawless bottled beer.
